After a series of test builds and release candidates  across several target devices, the first stable release of CyanogenMod-6.0 has officially been released! This ROM is based on Android 2.2, and is currently available of the following target devices:

• Google Nexus One
• HTC Aria
• HTC Dream / HTC Magic
• HTC Desire
• HTC Evo
• HTC Hero CDMA
• HTC Hero GSM 
• HTC Incredible
• HTC MyTouch 3G Slide
• Motorola Droid

There are surprises all over. Cyanogen and Team Douche have really worked hard to bring these flavors to our devices. Hats off Team Douche!

CM6 boasts a few new features and tweaks. Some features include ADWLauncher 1.1.4 which boasts some impressive add-ons such as the group catalog as well as improved UI settings. Sound and audio focus settings have been added to the CyanogenMod Settings menu and the locale now supports more languages.

Devices running RCs or nightly builds can easily update to CM-6 with ROM Manager or head over to Cyanogen’s forums for their flavors of CM6.

App review
This is by far the best Ringtone app for android Devices. Not only is it Free but all the ringtones are free to download as well.

Features
From the second you press the app button you are quickly brought to your homescreen which gives you 5 options.
1. Featured – This optioln brings you to the 10 most popular ringtones downloaded.
2. Categories – This brings you to the Categories page with every thing from Country to Rap and everything inbetween.
3. Search – Here you can search for ringtones either by song title or artist.
4. My Downloads – Takes you to all ringtones you have downloaded
5. Upload – Takes you to your login page where you can upload your own ringtones, in the case that you can’t find it in the app.

Additional Options once Rintones are Downloaded
1. The ability to share a ringtone with your friends via SMS or Email once you have downloaded it.
2. Requst a song if you cant find it

UI
Very clean and simple to use, not cluttered up with a bunch of useless info.
Album Art next to the ringtones is great also.

Conclusion
I think this is by far the best ringtone app in the Market. It has a huge selection of the latest and greatest songs that continues to grow by the day. If you like to keep your ringtones fresh and up to date or even rock out to some old classics, than this an must have app for you.

Drum roll, please … We’ve known for a while that the Nexus One would be coming to Verizon. We just didn’t know when. Well it seems that we have finally gotten a date. March 23 is the date that the much awaited Nexus One reportedly will be available. According to an anonymous source:

The Nexus One, originally released on T-Mobile in January, has passed FCC inspection for use on Verizon’s CDMA network and according to a Google worker who wishes to remain anonymous it will be made available on March 23.

We don’t know how much it’s going to cost on the Verizon Network, but currently the Nexus one is selling for $529 unlocked, or $179 with a two year contract from T-mobile.

When HTC announced the Desire last week at Mobile World Congress, it basically was billed as the Nexus One, with Sense (and a track pad to boot). But those of us with Nexus Ones knew it would only be a matter of time before we’d get to play, and that day is here.

Paul from MoDaCo has been a key player in the Android ROM community, and he’s got a version of the Desire’s ROM up and running on the Nexus One. If you’re not squeamish about rooting and hacking and all that jazz, head here, read the instructions, and give it a shot. We’ll be poring over this ROM for a little while and sharing our impressions. So stay tuned, everybody. (And thanks to everyone who sent this in.)

Before the end of February you’ll be able to grab the beta Gowalla Android Application from Android Market. For now, if you’re desperate to get going, TechCrunch has the details on how you can download the Beta .1 version of the socially empowering app (hint: download APK directly here or scan the barcode here).

You could previously use Gowalla on Android through their mobile site but the native app is a nice surprise. Not only that but MG Siegler says the Android version is already better than the iPhone version for a few minor reasons – take that!

For those of you impatient Nexus One owners who haven’t rooted your N1, here’s how to get your OTA update now.

I have found out a way to update the Nexus One to the new OTA that Google is pushing through, the one including multi-touch everywhere.

Go to the URL below:

Then save on to your sd card, not in any folders, and rename it update.zip (windows users just rename it update, .zip will come by itself)

1) Turn off your phone.
2) Turn on by holding down Power and the Trackball
3)Select Bootloader (Selection instructions on the top of screen)
4)Select recovery
5)An Android-Bot will come standing next to an open box
6)Press down Power and Volume Up
7)Select apply update.zip

New Software Update for Nexus One phones

Starting today, Nexus One users will begin to receive an over-the-air software update on their phones. This update provides some great new features, and fixes a few problems that some users might have experienced, including:

Google Goggles: this mobile application will now be available directly on your device by launching it from your All Apps menu. Just use your Nexus One camera to start searching the web

Google Maps: the Maps application with be updated to a new version, Google Maps 3.4, which will include:

* Starred items synchronized with maps.google.com – access your favorite places from your phone or computer
* Search suggestions from your personal maps.google.com history – makes it easy to search for places you’ve searched for before
* Night mode in Google Maps Navigation – automatically changes your screen at night for easier viewing and driving

Pinch-to-zoom functionality: devices will now include a new pinch-to-zoom mechanism in the phone’s Browser, Gallery and Maps applications

3G connectivity: we will provide a general fix to help improve 3G connectivity on some Nexus One phones

In order to access the update, you will receive a message on your phone’s notification bar. Just download the update, wait for it to install, and you should be all set. This update will be rolled out gradually to phones – and most users might not receive the notification until the end of the week.
